Since the introduction of its first in-house mechanical movements in 2012, French luxury goods manufacturer Swiss Hermès has progressively moved to improve upon some of their most established designs while serving up interesting new products. For Baselworld 2017, which is much closer than you think, the brand is introducing a new line of four Hermès Cape Cod watches for men featuring an assortment of dial and strap combinations that deliver a variety of visual updates to choose from.
If you've been longing for something "extra special,"Swiss Zenith has you covered with a whole line of aviation-themed watches that includes the new-for-2017 Zenith Heritage Pilot Extra Special Chronograph in bronze. It appears to have a lot going for it as well: bronze case, giant onion crown and pushers, huge luminescent numerals, and a trusty high-beat El Primero movement. Pricing is borderline tempting as well.
Black on white and white on black. Swiss Zenith released two new El Primero chronographs fitted in black ceramicised case with two opposite chiaroscuro dial interpretations.
The three counters – originally in anthracite, blue and light grey – create here a ‘visual opposites’ effect against a finely sunray-patterned ebony black or silver-toned base, punctuated by black luminescent faceted hour-markers and hands enhanced with bright red touches and protected by a domed sapphire crystal.
Swiss Bovet is a brand usually associated with masterfully crafted and highly complicated timepieces. This year, the Swiss company is continuing the tradition of their beautiful Récital models, with the Bovet Récital 20 Astérium, a stunning Swiss Designer Watches Online that comes with a flying tourbillon on a night sky chart, a perpetual calendar, and a celestial array of astronomical functions, all with a 10-day power reserve.
This year my favorite piece to play with was the stylish new Christophe Claret Allegro, the third musical creation from the brand (following the successes of the Soprano and Adagio before it.) Presented in a healthy-sized 45mm x 14.1mm case in your choice of 18k red gold with titanium elements or 18k white gold with titanium elements, the almost casual style of the Allegro belies its incredible complexity. In fact at first glance you could be forgiven for thinking it was a chronograph, thanks to the twin pushers on either side of the crown and the dual sub-dials.
